Socio-Cultural Rhythms Exchange
Group Senzala UK is organizing a Socio-Cultural Rhythms Exchange. It will take place in several cities in the UK from 22nd October 2011 to 15th October 2012. It’s a event of extreme importance for the space of cultural exchange through Capoeira, between Brasil and UK. Being based mostly in Edinburgh the exchange will also take place on the cities of Glasgow, Stirling, Dundee, Fort William, Saint Andrew, Cambridge and Rhyl, in Wales with Prof Gabriel Calado, who has been playing capoeira for over 15 years. He has taught in Spain and many primary schools in Rio de Janeiro. He has also just graduated from Unirio University in Music.
This exchange will start at the Batizado of our group in Cambridge on the 22nd October. It will be a day full of Capoeira training rodas talks and at night a performance of Brazilian Music live on the acoustic guitar.
Then in Wales in Rhyl with the support of Denbighire Council and O2 from the following week on the 25th there will be a 3 day of course for kids in the area with Capoeira its rhythms and moves.
From then on the exchange will be more based at the city of Edinburgh where classes will happen on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be also regular classes in Glasgow on Wednesdays. In Stirling there will classes on Fridays every 15 days and in Dundee too. Saint Andrew will share the Saturdays with classes every 15 days
